Where would we be without love?

As Valentine's Day is approaching, I am getting the warm fuzzies, thinking of all the people, places and things I love. As all of you who know me, you know I have a special place in my heart for my little man Spike. He has been my canine best friend now for 2 years, 6 months and 6 days. He is the sweetest boy ever and has taught me a lot about love and compassion. Dogs love unconditionally...whether Spike is sick or it's 3 in the morning, he's always wagging his tail and trying to give me kisses. Thank God for little gifts like Spike...

Longing for Summer

Today almost feels like Spring in Boston. Bits of the snow mounds are starting to melt. There is still a sheet of ice over most sidewalks and the local playground. It is days like this when I get of glimpse in my mind of all the Summer activities I'm looking forward to....kayaking, biking, hiking, camping, going to the beach. Oh the list goes on and on. I've been feeling so couped up in the house, snuggling under the covers so my heating bill isn't through the roof. I saw this picture today in my travel portfolio. This is from last summer when I went to NYC. I was walking through Central Park and this girl was more than happy to share her summer joy with me. Now, I want to share it with you.....Roll on Spring and Summer. I can't wait to see you again!!

Gorgeous Dominican Republic Wedding

Nate and Shanon said their "I do's" under the setting sun at a Punta Cana beach in the Dominican Republic. The ceremony was performed by a local Spanish speaking JP and then translated. The couple was serenaded by 3 men with guitars. It was a beautiful wedding....not a dry eye in the crowd, including myself. Shanon was a picture perfect bride and was a TON of fun. Check out my favorite shot with her and her bridemaids having a great time in the water!!

double exposed!

I have recently started shooting with 35mm film again. I love the excitment of not knowing how your pictures are going to come out, the anticipation of seeing what sort of 'prize' you're going to get when you open the envelope.

Well, I can tell you that I was really happy with what developed on these double exposured pictures I made from two very different weekends. One weekend was in New York and the other was at Second Beach in Newport. This one above is one of my favorites. I took 2 exposures of 2 different seagulls. The small one looks see-through, but the larger one is more prominent. I don't know the mechanics of why they are both not see through. I just know that I like the way it looks!

This one is of two different bike taxis going in opposite directions. I like how one of the men noticed that I was photographing him and he's looking straight at the camera!

Below is another cool one of some seagulls.
The guy in front is see-through.

New York is such and interesting city. There are so many vast contrasts. Rich/poor, clean/dirty, old/new. Every single time I visit, I find myself more drawn to the city. It is so alive and vibrant and scary and beautiful. The man to the right is picking a cigarette out of the gutter.
This statue is taken from 2 different angles and has morphed into something different.

Lovely London

I adore London and try to go back at least once a year. Every time I go, I get to see a new area of the city. This time, my new discovery was Mayfair. In all my times, I don't think that I have ever been there. It is the shopping capital of London and it is where all the really expensive flats are and all the rich people go to play, shop and dine. Of course, I'm not one of the rich folks, so I just took a walking tour of the area. Here are some of my favorites.
